In this article we take a look at five used cars that can be readily purchased on a budget of £5000.
First up is the Renault Clio 182, an extremely popular car for learner and first time drivers, the Clio has wonderful agility, response and power. With sport seats, the Clio is extremely appealing to younger drivers, whilst offering reasonable internal room makes it equally attractive to the older generation. The 182 has 178bhp, a top speed of 139 and is able to do 0-60 in 7.1 seconds making this a fantastically sporty car for its size.
The Skoda Octavia VRS is a great all rounder, great handling, sporty exterior and spacious interior. A 5-6 year old model with around 35,000 miles will keep within the £5000 budget and still provide you with a car with most mod cons. Skoda maybe a brand with a lot of negative stigma, but this saloon features Volkswagen technology, and performs impressively.
Next up is the Seat Leon Cupra R. If you look for a model that is six years old with mileage of around 60,000 you will be just within budget. For this you get a car that boasts an impressive 200bhp with a turbocharged engine. Certainly one of the fastest used cars on the list, the Leon also handles well and offers reasonable internal room.
Often when people think of used cars they imagine, rusty, old out dated models that you’d rather be seen dead in. This is simply not the case, for under £5000 you could easily land yourself in the driving seat of a Mazda MX-5. This is truly a wonderful car, opening up the two-seater convertible market to anyone. The MX-5 looks spectacular, handles even better and will continue to impress for many years to come.
Finally we have the BMW M3 E36, look for a 12 year old model, with 100,000 miles and bag yourself a car that is so perfectly designed you’ll wonder how you could have driven anything else. The M3 is a joy to drive, with superb handling and performance. Plus you get to tell your friends you own a BMW!
As always when buying used cars, ask for a vehicle history report, check the car thoroughly and test drive for at least 15 minutes. Following this, you could soon be driving your dream car.
